The Short Version

Sanpou has no account system, no advertising, and no analytics. Your memos, photos, videos, audio recordings, and location history live on your device and are not uploaded to any server run by us. The two exceptions — speech recognition on older versions of iOS, and the feedback form — are described below.

What Stays on Your Device

None of this is transmitted to a server we operate. It leaves your device only when you yourself export or share it — for example, exporting Markdown to iCloud Drive, or sending a memo through the iOS share sheet.

Speech Recognition

On iOS 26 and later, speech is transcribed entirely on your device. On earlier versions of iOS, Sanpou falls back to Apple's speech recognition service, which means the audio is sent to Apple and handled under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive it. This applies to live dictation as well as to transcription of ambient and conversation recordings. The recordings themselves, and the resulting memos, are stored only on your device.

Location

When you allow location access, Sanpou records the coordinates of a memo so it can be shown on the map, and so it can tell home from away. These coordinates are stored on your device and are not sent anywhere. You can revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings; memos still work without it.

Health Data

Sanpou reads step counts from HealthKit to show your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly totals, and to record how far you had walked when a memo was made. Step data is read only, stays on your device, and can be revoked at any time under Settings > Privacy & Security > Health. Sanpou never writes to HealthKit.

Photos and Text Recognition

Photos and videos you attach are stored inside the app. When you extract text from a photo, recognition runs on your device through Apple's Vision framework. The image is not uploaded anywhere.

Feedback

If you send feedback from within the app, the submission is delivered to a Google Form owned by the developer. It contains the screen you were on, the category you chose, the text you wrote, your app version, your iOS version, and your language setting. It does not include your memos, photos, audio, or location. Sending feedback is always your choice.

This Website

sanpou.mdaisuke.net uses Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are read. This is the website only — the app contains no analytics of any kind.

Third Parties

The app contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics, and no data brokers. There is no account to create and nothing to log in to.

Children

Sanpou is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Since no personal data is collected at all, there is nothing for us to hold.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the app changes. Any update is reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
